Family Support Group meeting

The support group offers family and friends of someone living with a mental illness an opportunity to meet with others who share their concerns and gives people a chance to share experiences and learn from each other.  Confidentiality is strictly followed!

• First Tuesday of each month, 5:00-6:30
• Community Presbyterian Church (703 Pokegama Ave. N., Grand Rapids)

Education meeting (see calendar)

The education meeting provides monthly programs on mental health topics of interest to members.  Meetings are open to the public.

NAMI Walks

Holiday Gift Drive

Every year, we take part in the NAMI Walks in September.  We walk to raise awareness and end stigma in Minnesota.   In 2024 we raised $16,410, ​half of which comes back to our local affiliate. 

Each December, NAMI Grand Rapids Area solicits donations for gift bags to be distributed to patients at the in-patient psychiatric unit at Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing.  This year, we filled 34 gift bags with winter hats, gift cards, warm socks, toiletries, soaps, journals, puzzles, games, snacks, bookmarks, etc.  Each bag also had a personalized holiday card written by members of Kiesler Wellness Center.   In 2024 we provided bags to 34 patients at Fairview Range plus 6 bags to individuals at the New Leaf Healing Center, the local mental health crisis stabilization facility.  In addition, we supplied funds to North Homes Children and Family Services so that gifts could be purchased for 56 kids in residential treatment.
