October - Mental Illness Awareness Week, Oct. 6-12

Tues. Oct. 1, 12:00-1:00 -  Local Advisory Council (LAC) on Mental Health meets at Kiesler Wellness Center.  An open forum meeting to discuss mental health issues.  Open to the public.
Tues. Oct. 1, 5:00-6:30 - ​Family Support Group meeting at the Community Presbyterian Church (703 Pokegama Ave. N., Grand Rapids)
  • For family members and close friends of someone with a mental illness.  Run by a trained family-member facilitator.  Come to find support, discuss issues, and exchange ideas in a safe, confidential meeting.

Wed. Oct. 2, 6:30-9:00 pm - Free 8-week (Wednesdays through Nov. 20) "Family-to-Family" class ONLINE
  • In-depth course for family, friends, and loved ones of a teen or adult living with mental illness.  
  • It is an evidenced-based program as research shows the Family-to-Family class significantly improves the coping and problem-solving abilities of the people closest to a person living with a mental illness.
  • To register, contact the program leaders Pam at [email protected] or Elizabeth at 612-432-0471 to ensure the program is a good fit.
​Sat. Oct. 26, 9:00-1:00 - FREE "Hope for Recovery" workshop.  Register HERE (space is limited) 
  • This free 4-hour workshop is for family, friends and loved ones of a teen or adult living with mental illness.  NOT for professional development or observation. 
  • Topics covered will include: information about major mental illnesses, treatments, recovery, crisis management, suicide, tools for healthy relationship building, and local resources.  A workbook is provided. 
  • Led by trained family members who have been there.
  • Woodland Bank Community Room - 2610 Hwy 169, Grand Rapids, MN
  • Coffee & muffins provided.  Participants can also bring snacks and drinks - fridge available.
